Ah but is that enough?

"Life" is full of things. The joker above advocation anal stimulation can't feel that perpetually anymore than one can feel ataraxia perpetually.

There are broader definitions of pleasure in the world than the ones advocated by Epicurus. (That I know of. Much was lost) For me, this leaves room for altruistic-epicurianism.

Here, you're gonna laugh.

I've said this before but, I am a product of homeschooling Christians and then mostly self education.
I know my failings and I admit to them often enough, but I'm no better or worse than plenty on this board and I think we all know it.
Did you have a question?

You need to acquire disciplinary methodology or you'll fall into the hole of autodidacticism.

1) Pick a discipline
2) Get advice on proceeding
3) Get a peer group and a mentor for discussion
4) Test your skills through "assessment" equivalents
5) Master the chief methodological texts of the discipline
6) Seem less scatterbrained about your epistemology.

Drifting ever leftwards.
I've identify myself as a progressive liberal before, then all the commies come and call me a rightwinger. I'm actually for phasing capitalism out, raising people up (or lowering) to what the Marxist call "bourgeois" while defusing, decentralizing government till it feels like its not there. So ultimately what, anarcho syndicalism?

"Progressive" still describes it well enough. "Gradualism" I've heard too. Staring out as a Christian conservative I am just in flux.

>> No.4441209

>>4441192
I'd call you a centrist. You've deeply social democratic and substitutionalist tendencies. Your ideas about ending capital are incoherent because you've not comprehended what capital is.

"Progressive" "radical labourite" "social democratic" or "centrist" in the sense that you're ambivalent about capitalism.

You're certainly not a praxical communist.

I've grown sick of capitalism but it is our reality. I don't think I've gone into just how to end it, but I don't think a violent revolution is necessary (or feasible in the US) the baby steps of raising the minimum wage way way up and/or a "basic income" wage or getting more co-ops and ESOPs, could lead to better income equality but that's not gonna last. Gradualism is good, but its not happening fast enough
And I've obviously not read any Marx. First I finish Herzen's memoir.

Theses on Feuerbach
Critique Gotha Programme
(Both sub-pamphlet size)
Engels "Socialism Utopian and Scientific" from Anti-Duhring
Then Wages Price and Profit
Contribution to a Critique
Chapter "Primitive Accumulation" from Capital I

None of that is longer than a pamphlet. It should give you a core intro to Marxism as economics and political strategy

>I've grown sick of capitalism but it is our reality. I don't think I've gone into just how to end it...

This is your usual socialist/communist rhetoric.

"I dont know how to fix the problem I have created in my own head, buuuuut..."

Just give up. Your delusions about how 'society should be' are useless. These ideas have been regurgitated back in forth on internet forums for nearly a decade now and they have led nowhere.

You can read as many Marxist books as you want. Convince yourself as much as you want that you've finally managed to see past the capitalist illusion. Uncover all the injustices and unfairness you want. Nothing will change at the end of the day, because all these ideals are merely that -- ideals. Hypotheticals stacked upon hypotheticals.

Are you a senator? Are you a president? Are you at any position of power whatsoever? No. You're probably an office clerk, you're probably a video game develop, a student, a waiter -- a nobody. Which is why you're posting on some board on 4chan arguing with strangers about how society should be.

This is a meaningless waste of time. All these internet political discussions are a waste of time and if they had turned into something of a hobby for you - well, it's time to find a new hobby, friend.

First off, you're on an imageboard, not a bulletin board. It's not hard, you should get it right.
Second, you're on this board 24/7, and every thread you post in degenerates in you talking about your shitty opinions and feelings

Ataraxia is per definition enough my sappho-björkian. Of course you could argue that for it to be achieved you need a level of peace and quiet that can only be provided by organising society in such a way that the world (or at least a good chunk of it) becomes one's garden, since strict isolationism in the orthodox Epicurean sense isn't much of a possibility these days, nor does it seem ultimately beneficial.
