Any books that have the same feel like Max Payne (2)?

Emotionally, the game had the greatest impact on me than any song, movie, other game, book etc ever had.

So i'll assume it's noir genre but do you know any good and similar to MP?

I second OP's question.

why exactly did max payne 2 have such a great impact? Especially since the story line of the first one is better in ever way.

I played it a long time ago but I think it's basically noir taken to its most depressing conclusion. A lot of bad things happened to Max in the first one but in the sequel it just gets worse including the death of his girlfriend and his only friend turning on him and trying to kill him.

yeah, but he didn't really have a motivation in the second one other than to stay alive. In the original Max is out for revenge and doesn't care about any consequence. That trait is still with him in the second one, but it does really make sense because he isn't on a mission. Don't get me wrong, the game was great
