I've read everything in that image except The Mahabharata. If I had to choose between Martin's books and those classics, the choice would be simple: Martin's. Those other ones have been influential but I don't particularly enjoy myself while reading them. I care little for the plot and the writing affords me no aesthetic bliss.

On the other hand, if you plan to write books, you need to have read all the classics and the only reason to pick up GRR Marlin is into the trash it goes.

Well I agree with you that as a writer you should certainly read the greats, but on the other hand, you might also want to pick up some normal contemporary literature.
First of all, diversity is what matters. While good books can help you and introduce you to good ideas or show you how certain types of dialogues work, normal books or even bad books can teach you too.
Should explore and go around when it comes to books as a writer.

Sure the books could use editing, especially.. the big red one, Feast, and the first 2-3 books have got really raw writing (but he improves later in A Dance...).

Read ton of fantasy and he is still my favorite just because how he handles and creates characters and his world building is good too.

Wait a second, let me just read out this shopping list of what Cersei is wearing again and how her diamonds are alive with light. The climax of the power struggle can wait. Also we're not going back to this character for 100 pages and when we do we'll sweep under the rug the cliffhanger we just hyped and left hanging for a sixth of the book and go back to walking and talking with minor characters for little purpose again.
