Ok /lit/. It's time to find out the truth.

Which way do you keep track of your progress in a book?

>Dog ears (folding corner of page)
>Bookmarks
>Leaving book open face down

Any others?

Memorising the page number.

>> No.4401527

An old train ticket.

>> No.4401529

Dog ear because the books aren't of significantly valuable for edition or rarity.

lets have a poll

I like polls

If it's a well kept book, always bookmarks. If it's already fucked up then my position is the whole 'the substance is only the words' thing and 'the book itself means nothing' so I just fold (except of course fucked up old books which are actually nice; I have vol1&2 of the I Ching in an awesome weathered hardcover and I wouldn't dream of folding the pages).

Bookmarks

I try not to damage the books in anyway

>> No.4401552

I use a "get well soon" card from my auntie as my bookmark.

A Magic the Gathering card, lol

Why would you leave a book open facing down?
Unless you do it for like a minute or so to do something else it's okey, but if you leave it for a prolonged amount of time it's gonna damage the binding.

I know we're not all aspies, but recalling a single number can't be that hard. Of course unless you're reading more than 3 books at a time?

>> No.4401719

The green card from inside rizla packets, generally. Or my kindle just keeps track of my progress automatically.

Who gives a shit about damaging the binding of some paperback trash?

yeah i know that feeling too bro but even if they are paperbacks i like to take good care of my books even if i dont read them or have little books

>> No.4401761

i use whatever scrap paper i have within reach when i stop reading

once i used a wrapper from something that still had some chocolate on it and messed up the page of my book :(

>> No.4401766

I just rip out all the pages I read and eat the paper viciously, so I always open the book at the page I left.

>> No.4401825

>>4401516
I take the page and spray paint it bright red, taking very little heed of what other objects get caught in the cross fire.

I then take the finished book and paste it to the wall, where I am busy building a collage of sorts.
