With the erosion of privacy, is using a pseudonym even possible today?

Related topic: Is it possible for an author to be a recluse, like Pinecone or Salinger, given that publishing contracts now demand that authors "go on tour" with their novels and promote them on radio, etc.

Pen Names are an acceptable practice.

Here are some of my older ones:

Robert S. Marsh is what I used to when I was seriously sending a manuscript to a publisher.

Recycled Yoga was what I used when I had a blog where I did nothing but post response-articles to shitty hipster blogs.
