Can't you just pirate MO?

I use GD for uni purposes. Botnet doesn't concern because it's only writing.

>> No.4381341

Why pirate something when you can just get the exact same thing for free but it has a different name? It just seems pointless.

I literally can't write on a white background anymore.

That's actually a valid point. If I'm writing for a long time I feel like my eyes are gonna bleed. I'll have to look into this

Idk man. I used Libre for about a year when I had ubuntu installed on my laptops and I just found that I preferred Word.

Regexing with several editors:
ed:
>?
>?
>?

acme:
>Oh, I want to execute a regular expression on my text here.
>Here I go.
>I take my mouse hand off my keys.
>I move my mouse hand to my mouse
>I grip the mouse with my mouse hand
>I move the mouse to the tab strip on top of the editing buffer
>I click the tab strip
>I release the mouse
>I move my mouse hand to the keys
>I write the regex
>I take my mouse hand off the keys
>I move my mouse hand to my mouse
>I grip the mouse and press da butans
>I drag the mouse over the regex to highlight it
>I release da butans
>I watch as my regex hopefully does what it needs to do on the first try.
>I move the mouse to the editing buffer to continue inputting text
>I release the mouse
>I move my mouse hand to the keys
>I FINALLY start typing again.

Emacs:
>press both foot pedals
>press meta shift control sysrq
>play the moonlight sonata on the two extra keyboards while requesting Regex-Mode with the headstick.
>hit the electric cymbals strapped under my arm and while putting the shift-stick I have gripped tightly with my sphincter into turbo mode.
>signal my two assistants to turn their keys in unison, NOW!
>input the regex
>release all keys and watch as emacs gracefully rearranges the text

vim:
>escape or equivalent
>:%s/foo/bar/g
>enter
>continue editing

Normally I'll use Word, even if it is kinda bulky and bloated.

When I didn't have Word, I used OpenOffice.

And on my phone, if I'm suddenly struck by an idea, I'll use Google Docs or the Writer app

Darkroom for long-term writing and outlining (most solid minimalist word processor), Ommwriter Dana I when I want to sink into a Zen mode (Dana II crashes and doesn't work right), FocusWriter when I want to customize a specific theme to surround myself in (especially for my erotica), and Open Office to edit all my work.

And Celtx when I'm writing scripts.

Vim + Vimscript is like a writer's dream land. You can spend all your time perfecting the art of writing without writing a damned thing. Maybe I should say it's an editor's dream. Regexing, formatting, pattern recognition, macros, fact identification, number checking, punctuation, dictionaries, databases, u name it, literally.

Like word on steroids with a blow job thrown in for the hell of it.

Are you retarded? You use it for publishing stuff or making a nice print out, there's no reason to use it for the actual writing or editing process itself except to deliberately impede yourself to so you can try and look cool.

Do people really use just text editors for writing or is this an "Install Gentoo" thing?

I mean, it must be really annoying to find where you were or quickly navigate compared to how you can have a chapter sidebar in Word and Writer.
