What's the best Kurt Vonnegut novel and why is it Timequake?

I'm really tired of all these post-modern, nihilistic, cultural-marxist thread formats.

Can /lit/ recommend me some good, manly thread formats with life-affirming themes and no degenerate influences?

Almost always cancerous.
Americans really should stick to poetry.

Timequake was humorous at times, but more than that I remember it being tremendously dull. Vonnegut was an old man talking about his life, and that's what it sounded like.

SH5 shits on it.

I wrote a paper on SL5, got an A on it, but I definitely feel like I missed out on a lot of overarching themes and cultural/historical references in it. What are some of the less common viewpoints you've seen in SL5?

Agreed. I don't understand how people think books like Sirens of Titan even compare.

Well, the way I've viewed SH5 seems to be pretty rare. Basically.

> The novel is about Vonneguts WW2 trauma and his inability to process it properly
> He tries to write a proper novel about Dresden to allow himself some peace
> Billy is just a caricature for him: a frail man without sight unable to make a stand who cannot control his mind when it comes to past memories
> Both Billy and Vonnegut try to help this by trying to come to terms with Dresden by re-imagining it
> The deeper the reader goes, the more absurd, silly the story goes -> Vonnegut believed that humour rose of stress
> Vonnegut as a novelist at that point had mostly written sci-fi schlock just like Kilgore Trout
> Trafalmadorians are there to for Vonnegut to escape this easier, less painful world that tries to explain harsh truths with bliss of determinism
> Appearances of characters from Mother Night, which carried the whole "You will become the mask you bear" aesop is in play here as well with Billy becoming a normal american although he has an untreated PTSD
So in conclusion Vonnegut adds sci-fi and humour to his story to be able to get over Dresden memory.

Vonnegut is clearly a marxist anti-white.

Cracka, check dat Slaughterhouse 5. Vonnegut is a mo'fucker with sum tricks up his sleeve, but if you have to break the nigga down the the essentials that's the shit.

>So in conclusion Vonnegut adds sci-fi and humour to his story to be able to get over Dresden memory.

Column A.

Column B:

Nigga be transcending reality and adopting da gallows to ease the horror of Dresden and the history of the real holocaust into the consciousness of a world which is brainwashed by hebrew hoodoo.

You can tell that mo'fucker wised up pretty quick after going through that.

I love it when people say someone tried to appear. The writer can't just be good at writing, he must be trying to be good. The time travel and especially the 4th dimensional beings were do interesting, fuck your friends opinions. I don't get the themes? Did he even read it? NEVER let him read Pynchon, tell him Pynchon is worse than any rand or something.

>> No.4383914

>>4380730
God no! I'm convinced This is Vonneguts version of bob Dylan's self album Self Portrait. That or he wrote it when he was 12, lost it, found it decades later and for a joke released it.

>> No.4383918

>>4380977
I thought it was blandly written so it made it hard to really get deep into the story, which I found not as good as Sh5 and Sh5 is written very well.

Sirens of Titan because the need for human progression is more important than happiness.
