Poets...you'll never achieve intellectually what's possible with novels can and you'll never achieve emotionally what's possible with music.

So why keep trying? Because you don't have the talent to play a musical instruments? Can be arsed to actually sit out and write something for longer than 10 minutes once a week?

Kill yourself faggots.

Okay, this is a good thread for this: Somebody explain poems to me. Explain to me how they can enrich me intellectually?

I really wanna profit from them, but I dont understand their merit, even though I am certain it is there. Can somebody help?

I have no interest in writing poetry whatsoever, yet I want to become a novelist.

I'm not real big on peotry, but I can apriciate good poetry when I come across it. You know how when your reading a book, and the writer finds a really good way to describe something whether it be an emotion an action or a place.
I guess poetry is about catching that same kind of moment but without all the story and whatnot surrounding it.
I dont know, that's my take on it. Like I said I'm not real big on poetry so someone else probably has some better insight on it then I do.

Shoemakers: You will never achieve the heights of nutrition, flavor, aroma and texture that bakers do with ease. You will never reach the heights of communication and persuasion that public speakers and politicians do every day.

So why keep trying? Kill yourselves.

“I’m a failed poet. Maybe every novelist wants to write poetry first, finds he can’t, and then tries the short story, which is the most demanding form after poetry. And, failing at that, only then does he take up novel writing.”
