it all seems very sterile. especially considering many classic authors broke the rules whenever they felt like it. even the quran which claims to be a work of perfect classical arabic from an illiterate man [it's main proof of divine revelation] has been proven to contain words of non-arabic origin and to break certain rules of grammar. and that's god's authoring, if you believe them.

i agree with what stephen fry said on the jonathan ross show about texting.

I've heard so many people claim that certain words aren't real words because they're slang or something like that. There seems to always be some people trying to sound smart when they say faggot means a bundle of sticks and can't mean anything else.

It's like people think Webster and Oxford sat down together, invented every word in the English language, said that's that, and no new words were made since.
