Is this book worth reading? I don't have much knowledge in the area so I'm not looking for a university textbook. I've read some of its criticisms but in terms of accessibility and writing style, is the book a worthwhile read?

Also why did they remove the serial comma from the title when it was released in the UK?

>> No.4293755

The writing style is very good - it's more a pop-sci book than a university text. Somewhere in the middle, however, the endless listing of marginally different examples gets boring. I'd still read it again though.

Thanks, that's exactly what I'm looking for.

This book is amazing. Diamond is, without a doubt, the most expert world builder that I have ever seen. Truly, he was so successful with his foray into fantasy that some lesser educated readers may take what he says to be fact.

It's funny how he claims multiple times he's not racist and in fact the biggest reason for writing the book is to battle against racism and then presents a 400 page argument for different peoples to live in the enviroment they evolved in.

Those certainly are some bold statements without any supporting facts. Did you have anything of value to say before I disregard your comments entirely?
