What does /lit/ think? Pic unrelated
My social psychology teacher put this AMAZINGLY.
His view was as follows: all of the sciences, social, and even some humanities are different sides of the same coin divided by the macro or micro scale they employ in analyzing the universe.
Theology is the most macro, then philosophy heading towards micro, then anthropology, then sociology, then psychology, then biology, then chemistry, with physics being simply a microscopic lens of viewing the same phenomena as any other branch of science. Math is a system of abstract logic in pretty much ALL of these fields as a heuristic, and is not one of these fields in and of itself.

This is stupid.

Cosmology is a type of physics.

He used an hourglass metaphor which I liked where theology is at the top and physics at the bottom. So basically in his ideal world we should start with psychology and incorporate the other sciences into Systems Biology (dat postmodernist concept) from there.

Slutty Neuroscifag reporting in, also KEK. But why is psychology so virginal? Granted there's clinical psychology and theoretical and I only studies the latter but its not like psychology and neurology and psychology are THAT different. That's what you get for using studies with tiny sample sizes and selection bias.

I think your professor is completely correct and that we should really see philosophy, science, and religion/spirituality as the same entity in that they all focus on pursuing some form of greater truth. The day humanity unifies all disciplines of knowledge acquisition is the day we take our greatest step. Now, I'd like to mention that multiple divisions of the above triad would be necessary for effectively applying it to civilization because you can't have individuals try to tackle "knowledge" as a whole but smaller parts, such as the well know physics, mathematics, and the like.
