I have a fedora, so I guess so.

Wouldn't you be embarrassed, wearing that in public?

I mean, I like Nietzsche as well as the next guy, but wearing a shirt that says, "Hey, everyone, I've read a book!" is just sad.

Not that guy, but I find such blatant declarations of taste & personality to be desperate and immature. Plastering text and images all over your clothing just looks bad to me.

It at all. Why are you so insecure that you can be embarrassed about wearing a t-shirt with a philosopher on it?

This guy, here >>4280644

It just seems that wearing such a shirt seems is what seems "insecure". Like this guy said, >>4280653 it seems really desperate. Like, you want to be taken seriously or viewed as an intellectual but can't be bothered to say and do intelligent things--instead, you just buy a t-shirt to do that work for you.

It reminds me of fat chicks who are too lazy to eat right and exercise, so they make signs (or wear t-shirts) that say "Big is beautiful".

yeah i don't wear any shirts with corporate logos. ill wear some shirts that have cool art on them or plain shirts. or mildly ironic shirts

personally i'd wear a nietzsche shirt if it was white with a stencil like http://www.whoarewho.com/files/gimgs/7_nietzsche.jpg on it

or black with white

because it's subtle, the OP pic is kind of dorky

Desperate for recognition and validation of their opinions, tastes, and personalities. Immature compared to my personal standard for human behavior - which, might I add, I do not myself meet (fuck yeah band t's) but which I nevertheless strive for. Man should be comfortable and content in his own life; he should not require the attention of others. But of course we all do, one way or another. So while I may find the practice offensives to my ideals, IRL IDGAF.

Wearing the shirt without having read and understood his work would be more distasteful, I agree. But the notion of telling every single person who lays eyes on you that day how you like and agree with anything at all is just obnoxious to me. Again, I do it myself, but I think it's totally icky.

>> No.4280776

>>4280765
that's cool, i mean, you can be how you want, but i think it's friendly and gives you the opportunity to connect to other people easily. i think what's sad is that people wear tshirts that SHOULD have meaning but don't, or are a walking corporate billboard. if anything, i think a shirt that represents nietzsche on a person who's a fan of him is very honest and is something our culture is lacking: forthrightness, outgoing personality, and a real genuineness.

>> No.4280809

Remove Stalin and you look like a confusing right-wing ideologue. Including Lenin makes it mysterious.

>> No.4280816

>>4280776
I sympathize with your view. The problem may arise when wearing shirts doesn't complement " forthrightness, outgoing personality, and a real genuineness" but serves as a substitute for it. You compliment someone's shirt and 9 times out of 10 they'll just say thanks and leave it at that. I'm referring to cases of strangers, of course. If the relationship already exists, there are more engaging ways to bring an interest up in conversation.
