What books would you recommend to an architect?

I don't mean necessarily about groundbreaking perspectives about space, but books that talk about the importance of it, in a honest way.

What's funny about my Ezra Pound suggestion? There's plenty of meditation on space in it.

I think Pound would be good to read if you're interested in architecture. You could do some very interesting work comparing structural components in the poems to architectural objects mentioned in them. This would probably require far more time than it's worth though.

There's a line in the Usura Canto about

"no stone marked Adamo me Fecit" or something.

"Adamo me Fecit"=Adam made me=man made me is a perfect tagline for architecture.

But I mean, nearly the whole of his memoir of H. G-B is composed of a meditation on architectural and sculptural space. Mainly sculptural, but he relates it back to architecture plenty, and sola sculptura is enough to provoke architectural thought.

"Brunelleschi's Dome".
It deals with all the background surrounding the construction of a challenging work of art.
It's an entertaining and insightful read.
