I found the Torture Garden to be filled with boring characters, same with the Picture of Dorian Grey. Both had interesting themes though, just the characters were lacking imo.

do you think the opposite can work? i'm writing for a class and i have a pretty boring theme "drugs aren't taboo to use recreationally" and i'm not sure how i can make my novel interesting

I like Kundera because his books are about love <3 <3 <3 <3
