Probably not the right thread for this, but on the subject of publishing, here is a question for you guys.

A friend of mine is writing a political thriller. I've been reading and helping him with it and I think it's pretty great. It's certainly not a life changing read, but it's certainly good, in my opinion.

Anyway, long story short, he is a person with a massive history in journalism. He already has a first book written, a semi-autobiographical look into the unseen side of the journo world, although he has barely attempted to publish it and it probably needs a rewrite now that with the novel his writing has come leaps and bounds. He was a TV news correspondent, working on camera for ITN for about 10 years.

Obviously this means he has a good TV personality, will be great for interviews, a familiar face even for some. How would you guys say it'd effect his chance of being published? Is an agent that much more likely to go for him because of his history, or does it not count for too much?
