I'm looking for a word, /lit/.

Specifically an adjective to describe people like the protagonist of this book.

People that are comically arrogant, who act aloof in all situations and rely on petty insults and back handed comments when dealing with others. People utterly unable to laugh at themselves.

Can this sort of behavior be distilled to one word? I see "fedora" and "euphoric" tossed around /lit/ specifically, but those are too wishy-washy to really describe what I'm thinking of.

I guess those work but they're not as strong as I think they ought to be

okay aloof kind means the opposite of the rest. an aloof dude just doesn't care or have any emotional involvement so why would he rely on petty insults?

Aloofness usually comes from distaste more than disinterest though

You think so? I would say it's more neutral than that.
