Now that Goodreads' main aim is promoting books for Amazon, I thought they were deleting these?

After finishing this book I felt so uplifted and happy that I needed to discuss it somewhere and, knowing that /lit/ wouldn't care for another thread about the book, went to the Goodreads review section. The two of the three highest reviews were from people who didn't finish the book, gave it a low score, and mocked it. One girl left a one star review saying "the book is too complex to understand it's crap". The book touched me so deeply and these people trashed on it for being nonlinear? Really depressed me.

I can never really trust goodreads when almost every book has an average score between 3 and 4 stars and the "best books" list is the same as the "worst books" list.

lol, I feel accomplished.
Also I loved the book as well. I don't remember it being difficult to follow at all, though. Just very colorful in terms of the cast of characters. It was one of the first novels that made me actually laugh while reading it.

the worst part about this is that the bible is actually one of the centerpieces of the western canon and disliking it probably means you actually have bad taste.

I think it can be read as a first book nicely.
Especially the first one of the trilogy.
Still, it's true that if you're interested in the author, it's advisable to start somewhere else.
