The medium is the message is a simplistic approximation. I agree that changes in the medium can affect perception of the message; but also around it there are codes, channels and protocols that can emerge by or despite these changes.

And his assumption that the content of the message is just another medium seems stupid to me. Structure is a medium? Ideas are a medium?
