Thoughts on this?

>> No.4134211

it was a lot of fun
the text stuff was neat and surprisingly effective and not just a gimmick.
the mythology was neat
the only problem was johnny truants bits were fucking tedious after a while

Really? I thought all of the weird text was tryhard pleb tier shit.

>> No.4134275

I picked it up at my local bookstore, opened it, and closed it.
how the fuck are you supposed to read it?

>> No.4134278

>>4134232

I read books to actually enjoy them, not to be able to scoff on anonymous message boards about how pleb/patrician something is.

Nah, boring-ass johnny truant was the tryhard pleb shit: "Surely my bad life decisions and miserable petty problems are meaningful." A horror story with the laws of physics breaking down + a book where the conventional rules of formatting get thrown out is pretty synergistic and appropriate.

it's actually pretty readable and not hard
it's very intuitive and the wackier stuff is just there for effect, you don't actually have to read the endless list of books about architecture going backwards upside down through the chapter to give the sense of an endless labyrinth
just get the general feeling from it

I'm sort of like this guy, except I actually want to read it. I just really can't figure out how. It's been sitting on my shelf for a while now.
Am I the only one who just can't figure out how to follow it?

>>4134288
what about all the appendices and letters and shit? it almost looks intimidating
>>4134289
who said I didn't want to read it?

>One of the characters is called Johnny Truant

Holy shit that's the most unimaginative shit I've ever heard. He might aswell have called him Johnny BadAss

>> No.4134294

>>4134290
you just read them afterwards because they're interesting
or during if you want
none of the actual writing is that hard to get into, it's just a big collage of stuff and you can read all the bits

i think the strength of this book is how reader friendly it is despite all the messing about. it is kind of a pleb book in a good way
