They don't write about literature. It's a news, politics and economics magazine.

It's great for international news. They lean to the right.

I listen to about an hour of the audio version every day during my commute. They're roughly 7 hours long, so this works out as I'm able to download the most recent episode as soon as I'm finished

I was in my uni's library the other week and there was this new table where magazines are left to be taken, I went over there and found 6 copies of the new yorker and decided to pick them all up since Ive never really read a literary, or whatever, magazine.

Besides the short stories I wasnt really interested in it, it just talks about everything thats going on in new york city. Theres only one short story per issue which is pretty lame.

The short stories themselves were meh. I read 4 issues and only liked one story. Two were multicultural-youve-never-heard-of-this-country-how-dare-you stories that were pretty lame, one was about a guy watching a tv show about himself that was gimmicky as hell, and one, the one I liked, was about a poor girl in the south who was dealing with her new foster parents.

Overall, new yorker seems pretty lame, big letdown.

It happens when pictures get posted at the same time, they have a tendency to switch. right now somewhere on /a/ or /w/ or whatever, some neckbeard is probably confused as to why his picture is an article.

Anything that isn't retardedly pro-American is considered to be leftism? I'm not even an American or a leftist. What I am, though, is a right-winged European who isn't completely blindfolded by years of harmful international politics who haven't brought any thing good to these days besides to Israel. When you read a magazine which starts a paragraph by demonizing someone, with no solid proof, who's being targeted by the country's agenda you pretty much know that magazine is shit. Magazine aren't supposed to be PRO or CON they are supposed to be neutral. Why? Because their job is to provide information, not to manipulate it.

By now I'm puzzled on how someone so narrow-minded can be on /lit/ since you can't think for a while and make mature conclusions. Just because a magazine happens to not be PRO-WEST it doesn't mean that same magazine is CON-WEST.

The New Yorker is an art and culture magazine, not a newspaper concerned with factual reporting. Their journalism shouldn't be held the same standards as, say, the New York Times
