really well-written and engrossing. It drags in a couple parts and the ending feels rushed, but the writing and the characters and the eery world Maguire constructs more than make up for it. Maguire influenced my writing style more than any other author.

it's actually a great book, basically a treatise on social gospel and liberation theology. It genuinely changed my life.

My sister has that, I will read it. It looks more interesting to me after seeing Oz the Great and Powerful.

I wasn't so enraptured by the prose. And then I got to what I think was an inexplicable orgy scene where a lion rapes some dude? It wasn't clear what was going on so I dropped it.

it was a tiger. you're talking about when four or five of the Shiz students visit The Philosophy Club, that whole scene is very symbolic of the larger themes of the book and the conflicts Elphaba faces.

if you think you'd like a complex analysis of the problem of evil, I'd say give the book another shot. but it's definitely not for everyone.

"Corazón de Napalm" by Clara Uzón.

I picked it up a few years ago in the library of a small town I went that summer. I think I was 17 at the time.
It's your typical YA fiction novel but for me, having only read child or teen books and a few books by García Márquez before was a big revolution.

How did HoL change your life op?

Are... are you serious?

Do you always rotate your books now when you read them or.....? The relationship between sound, vision and perception was interesting but it wasn't anything magical

Because he had to look sideways at the text. Technically anything you do changes your life.
