I mostly only talk to my friends about pulpy stuff like ASOIAF, and about perennial philosophy.

I find it hard to really talk about literature beyond "it was really good and well written"

and maybe describing one or two funny or quirky moments that stood out.

Are there people that can talk about books for hours? I can't even remember character names for very long

We normally suggest books to each other and then talk about it as we read them without giving away spoilers.
>the political relevance of 1984 for example.

>> No.4104659

I got a friend who usally goes thrifting for books a lot, so we usually discuss our latest finds, and books we wish to find, sometimes discussing the books mentioned. It's pretty neat.

I debated whether Jung would have liked PKD, for instance. Then again, my friends aren't actually real.

My gf and I have our own little bookclub, or at least we'll both get the same novella/short book from the campus library every once in a while and read it the same week then discuss it for a night

Sounds like /lit/.

I have no degree, and I know more about literature than a friend who graduated from stanford with a degree in lit. The only books I've heard him really talk about are fear and loathing. I keep trying to get friends and family to read shit, but it's no good. No one can pay attention for long enough. Hell, I barely can

>> No.4104824

My friend told me he wanted to take a lit course to study Jane Austen novels. I asked him, 'why'?

The conversation didn't go very far after that.

>> No.4104881

I don't have any friends.
