So I'm going to jump into V. today.

V as in Pynchon's not 'le anonymous leejun' V.

I read Crying of Lot 49 and liked it so I'm pretty excited.

What do you guys think about it?

How difficult is it?

Do I need to know some context or some obscure references or can I just get right into it?

It's tougher than CoL49 but it's still a relatively easy read. Dive in, but if you get stuck with an allusion or reference take a peek here;

Before we answer that. How does one even pronounce Pynchon? Pinkon? Painkon? Pin-chon? Payn-chon?

I feel stupid whenever people ask me "who wrote" what I happened to be reading at the moment.

Thanks! Did you like the book? Not just on an aesthetic/technical level but was it fun to read?

Hide your power levels, dude.

I think it's Pinch-On

Did I like it? Yes, on all levels. I like it the more I mull over it's ideas in my mind. At first I found the end kind of unsatisfying but it sticks with you.
