Don't do it, you won't be able to digest it properly. It's a waste of time.

I found life as an English major to be very easy. Life as a Political Science major was quite a bit harder, and in the grand scheme of things poli sci isn't even a very demanding discipline at the undergraduate level.

Kind of just meh. Not particularly challenging, mostly professors don't really care about what you have to say, or what you took from a book. All they want is for you to respond to a prompt that forces you to arrive at the same conclusion every asshat before you has come to since the dawn of the English major.

That is terrible. Why didn't you major in philosophy or something more dense?

>> No.3966513

i like being and english major because it seems to be the most general of the humanities. i dont feel like im pursuing a specific field. in school i learn how to read and write well so that on my own time i can read what i want and learn stuff thats meaningful to me.

this person a) went to a shitty school and b) probably doesnt care enough about learning to make school worthwhile and to think for himself. if he's above all the "same conclusions" then why didnt he assert himself and prove it to his teachers?
>blaming the shit quality of his papers and ideas on other people

I like to write and I've had professors praise and use my work as exemplars for future students in community college.

Unfortunately I don't really enjoy reading, especially literary fiction. I don't hate, but it's certainly not a passion of mine

Thing is, I'm not really much good at anything else. Being an observational person and putting those observations into well-written words are pretty much all I've got. So should I become an English major?

It's funny because the humanities are useless outside of hobbies.

The drop in humanities majors in the US is a sign of the people waking up.

Sure, humanities degrees aren't very vocational, but it'll be a sad day when the world is completely populated with accountants and lawyers.

So glad I'm a math major and will be making 300k once I get out of school. Right, guys?

>> No.3967169

I expect a surge in humanities degrees in the future.
