While we are talking about bookstores anyway, a new one opened in my hometown this week.

The owner bought a church build around 1500 and moved in a bookstore. It looks even better than the Polare store in Maastricht.

Anyone like?

Not really. I mean, it would look good if they had actually kept the interior look of the church in its former and had moved the shelves and everything into the building, but, I mean, who the fuck even decorated that? What's up with all the excess of white everywhere? Even as a standalone decoration, apart from being set in a church, the place looks detestable.

Yeah, the owner is a bit oldfashioned. He mostly sells highschool agenda's there. It's in Zwolle. Search for "waanders in the broeren:

>>3955174
The other choice was letting the church rot away, which is seems even worse.

When you translate paper into Dutch, it becomes papier. Just a minor difference.

Didn't know that.

I enjoy bookstores because they're calm and not usually full of people. Crowds remove parts of bookstores' identity, but it'll calm down in a few weeks or so probably.

>>3955199
I went there today, it was still in one piece. They actually fixed it. And for some reason there is now a car standing in front of it for 2 weeks, something to do with an art exhibit about Berlage, a semi-famous artist.

>>3955202
It was terrible. I was looking for a book by Machiavelli which for reasons unkown to me was in the modern philosophy section. 4 other people were standing in front of the section browsing through shitty Hart books. So in the end I had to buy Brave New World because no-one was interested in the English Literature section.

We have a wacky language.

Bookstores -this one has a great coffeebar added to it- can be a very comforting place. Unfortunately this one will be opened by the Queen of Norway in a few weeks because someone from her country made a glass-in-lead window for it. Which looks great by the way. Perhaps it will calm down after that.

It's because the subjects he discusses about are about timeless problems and questions, not limited to the time he wrote.

>> No.3955213

>>3955211
True, but the time he wrote it in can hardly be called modern. It's like finding The Art of War in the management section. I can understand the reasoning, but it's just wrong.
