Coelho is no better nor worse than any other popular fraud. Why not rail against Palahniuk or Murakami?

Who cares; they're all interchangeable.

>> No.3925600

I never got the impression that he was trying to write high brow literature, so why treat him as though he were? His books, especially The Alchemist, have been very helpful for a lot of people.

>> No.3925626

isn't he the guy who killed that other guy?

>> No.3926173

'cause magic realism sucks. i could describe exactly how much magic realism sucks, but a giraffe has just entered my room and is demanding, in perfect latin, that i accept the academy award immediately.

Coelho is certainly below the likes of Murakami - perhaps even well below. I don't love Murakami myself, but I'm tired of this board's 2deep4me sense of contrariness all the fucking time.

>thinking Coelho is at the same tier as the most famous magic realism authors

Seriously, his books are the twilight of magic realism, no one in latin america takes him seriously. He's the Nickelback of literature.
