Sadly not, it's an aging municipal library building that has a leaky roof, that's physically too small for our collection, and our operating budget has been made smaller for the past four consecutive years. One of my dear friends is an archaeologist, but somehow she found her way to become official egyptologist recognized by society for egiptology in Egypt and that all happened pretty quickly, after she stumble across khm good connections, her area of study were actually Phoenicians and their links to Egypt.

Immidiately she started to decorate her room in that style and whenever she takes a picture on a dig, she filters images to be black/white or adds similar effect to look like she's in 40's-50's and digging next to Howard Carter, it's pretty funny. Her Facebook albums are full of pictures of that kind, you'd think they were actually took during that period.

It's similar with me, every time I'm taking a picture on a dig (but my area of study is classic civilization) I hold some pottery and examine it overly dramatic in style of Arthur Evans or I pretend to command everyone without actually doing anything myself like Schliemann.

I mean, not that we're actually doing anything important in our careers, so...

Everything is a fucking fashion statement these days. It's impossible to live in the social world without making those kinds of statements. You want people who come to your place to stay your friends? You better not have some bare ass bookshelf and your fap station be the only thing that speaks about you in your room.

I'd say having a library all decked out is better than having none at all.

I'd say it depends on whom the fashion statement is for.
I think there's an element to being passionate about books that leaves you open to the temptation of making it part of your identity. This is the part of a lot of /lit behavior, even. And there's no doubt that these personal libraries is porn. But I don't think there's anything wrong with that when it's about you yourself. When you're creating the space in order for it to look nice, for you and for your friends and family. Instead of trying to look superior. That's really where the problem comes in. When you're status-seeking. That's the crux of pretentiousness and try-hardedness.
Personalization and customization help a private library to feel authentic. The Bathos of having a stack of classics shelved just above dvd's and playstation games. But there's nothing wrong with people wanting to have a nice looking library. And while fashion statements are gauche, fashion itself is unavoidable.
I mean, even nudists have haircuts.

If you have a collection of books at all, then you're going to want to arrange them. It's just natural.
