Not even once. There's about 200 books in my personal library and I probably spent less than $100 in total.

$75 bucks? Not bad. There's a few thrift shops in my area where I could probably get the same quantity of books for around $50, but they don't always have the most quality stuff.

P.S. That Gustav Klimt book makes me jelly

The only non-predictable book in that picture (at least to me) is The Poison King. I wasn't expecting that. It's a well-written and fascinating work, so enjoy it, OP.

As for the rest, did you buy them because you're genuinely interested in the text or because you've been told their great works and want to appear sophisticated? I find it's not worth buying that many books in bulk. You tend to become exhausted by them before even reading the first few ages.

Purchase in small quantities, sell back that which you don't enjoy, and keep the ones that speak to you. As it is it seems like you bought a lot of those purely due to reputation.

But I hope you enjoy them. There are some good (and not so good) works there.

Meant they're. A few other grammatical issues in that post as well, for which I apologize. I tend to type in a rush.

Xenophon has fairly recently been convincingly discredited as a consistent historical source (which only makes him more interesting). A lot of awesome finds there

>> No.3867203

I didn't meant to come off as cynical and apologize if that's what was construed. I just feel that buying that many books at once is wasteful and usually stems from an impulse not related to truly be intrigued by what it is you're purchasing. It seems like an attempt to add more intelligent-looking texts to the bookshelf rather than wanting to read 'Classic and Romantic German Aesthetics' or 'Invisible Man,' by Ellison.

Again, if OP enjoys them, great. I just don't think that was the reason for buying--or posting--them.
