So /lit/, I'm going through a bit of a manchild phase after reading the Mortal Engines series over very quickly again, loving it as much as I did the first time.

Any recommendations of something similar? I've heard Discworld is quite good but I'd love to get stuck into anything a bit more highbrow (if I can employ such a term on fantasy lit) in that genre.

Any and all of his stories.

Never read Mortal Engines, but from a quick glance it seems the following terms can be applied to it: young adult, industrialized fantasy, slight philosophizing.

His Dark Materials would probably be the closest thing. It's actually pretty decent.

There's more high-brow fantasy out there, but HDM seems like a better fit based on what you already read and liked.

Also, what the fuck is going on in that horrifying .gif?

No thanks friend, I tried those and hated them.

By the way that's just an animatronic robot, not a woman.

Discworld is good. I loved Piers Anthony's Xanth growing up, but I haven't gone back to it since.

Read up the description of these and see if you like them.
Some are complete shit.
You've been warned.

I loved the shit out of Xanth. But after the 29th book, it does get kind of repetitive.
