I'm starting a genre fiction magazine.

If you want to contribute an unpublished 2,000-9,000 word short story, I'll probably publish it. If you need some help turning something you have into a publishable story, I can work with you on that.

Pay is 1 cent per word on publication.

The story has to be in the apocalyptic/postapocalyptic genre.

Also doing unpublished reviews of movies, books, and whatever in the same genre for the same rate, 500-1,000 words.

Please submit via RTF attachment.

Anyway, if any of you guys are interested in breaking into writing this is the way to do it.

Sure, why not?

Also what's an RFT attachment?

>> No.3829253

I don't believe you. That rate is too high to be believable.

Rich Text Format document.

It's kind of like a text file but lets you do some basic formatting. It's a pretty safe format to get in your email, virus-wise.

You should be able to export in it from Word or LibreOffice or whatever.

The big magazines pay 10 cents a word.

I'm going to have to sell this thing for $2/issue to qualify for government grants, so I don't want contributors to feel like they're getting ripped off.

Oh yeah, also be sure to specify in your email whether or not you're a Canadian citizen.

I've got to run.

One last thing: try to review something recent if you're writing a review.

It wasn't that I thought it was exorbitant or anything, it's that it's a little suspect when it was coming from a brand new start-up which (presumably) has done nothing previously.

Do you have a website or something?

So that's...900 DOLLARS a story? Wait..

I have a story OP, whens the submission? I too am trying to published so I can get the New Writer's grant (a minimum of one published paid work).

Fuck, I wish I was working on short stories instead of a massive novel I'm only halfway complete with.

All the short stories I've written prior to this are pretty crap.

Alternatively,
9000*0.01 = 90

You must be joking, son; pulp writers were getting better rates than that in the 1930s.

to bump this thread out of nowhere

They were also better-known than some anonymous bloke on the internet, and were selling to established companies. Getting a minimum of $20 (and a maximum of $90) for some shitty story you write is completely acceptable if you're a complete nobody.
