You have to be smart to argue over science since it requires the application of proven theories, logical deduction and an extensive set of foundational knowledge.

Arguing art is pretty much pleb tier. That said, stick to art if you can't handle science.

you're asking "how did that fly", about the lack in punctuation in some writers and yet defend your own syntax choices, which conventions often recommend to avoid all together. This defense of yours can be accommodated to defend the lack of punctuation all together. Thing is: Mccarthy's books work, your phrase works. That's about it, really

And yes, I realize SOME science people discover new things. I also realize most artwork is shit. But, your argument is fucking stupid.

I know your post isn't serious but I feel the need to reply so 4/10

Science continually improves and furthers itself using dated knowledge as a basis to expand on matters and discover new areas which have not yet began to be studied, in those cases there is the creation of new knowledge. But that's not what science is necessarily about anyway.

Art is the same in that nobody who creates art was raised in a nutrient pod with no prior experiences. We absorb what is already there and we create based on it. Much of the most lauded works of art drew the same direct inspiration down the line from the greeks as science and philosophy did.

I'm surprised at the response you've received. I'm not sure if they're trolls or people on this board are just morons but it's kind of sad to think that there are actually people attempting to enjoy literature and art without a firm grasp of science. What are you people getting out of art if you can't contrast it against the concrete fundementals of science? Do people just open up a book and go "Wow Art is so amazing it makes me feel things!" and that's it? Because that seems pretty fucking tragic.

stop trying to revive a troll
But if you're serious (since some people were denigrating STEM as a whole anyway), it's a relative situation; good artists tend to be abreast of scientific discoveries (e.g. Goethe, even Nabokov with lepidoptery) and good scientists are often rather cultured (e.g. Oppenheimer), even if specialization has made the fields more tribalistic (thanks Sokal!)

That is the funniest image I have ever seen on 4chan. Probably because my medical ethics lecturer sets questions a lot like this, only somewhat less extreme (e.g. "Discuss the possible breaches of administrative, common, and statutory law, and the likely punitive consequences (if any) of the actions of Dr. Baddoc when he anaesthatised several of his female patients and raped them.")

A conservative, backwards moral absolutist professor was teaching a class on Jesus Christ, known spookslave.
"Before class begins you must get on your knees and send your prayers to Saint Thomas Aquinas and accept that he was the most highly developed thinker philosophy has ever known, almost as great as Jesus Christ!"
At this point a nihilistic, egotistical ubermensch who had spent 9000 hours pondering the pointlessness of life and who understood that all moral values are merely spooks stood and held up an aborted fetus.
"What is this, pinhead?"
The arrogant professor smirked quite Jewishly and replied, "A human being murdered by a mother who failed to realize the value and beauty of each human life, thus transgressing the moral laws prescribed by God, you stupid nihilist."
"Wrong. It's a senseless collocation of atoms that has no value or meaning whatsoever who was killed by a mother who proudly used violence to effect her will."
The professor was visibly shaken, and dropped his crucifix and copy of Fear and Trembling. He stormed out of the room crying those conservative crocodile tears. The same tears moralists cry for the "weak" (who are pathetic and deserve no compassion) when they jealously try to claw power from the strong. There is no doubt that at this point our professor, Dr Goody-Two-Shoes, wanted to shoot himself, but his own pathetic moral code forbade it!
The students applauded and elected Thrasymachus Supreme Chancellor of the Universe that day and accepted Friedrich Nietzsche as their lord and savior. A pencil drawing of Max Stirner flew into the room and pooped on the American flag. Beyond Good and Evil was recited in full several times, and Heidegger himself came and abolished all laws.
The professor lost his tenure and was fired the next day. He died and his "soul" was snuffed out for all eternity.
