Hello /lit/, does anyone here listen to books on tape?

I've taken a liking to them since I have about 45 minutes on the bus each way, and get carsick easily when I try to read text.

Any suggestions? I'm open to any genre, but I like fantasy a lot. Any kind.

Do you have a favorite reader?

>> No.3814200

too slow. reading text, i can take in entire sentences in an instant. in order for an audiobook to match this, it would have to be narrated by Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw.

Ok, but I can't really do that on the bus. Which is the whole point...

Why is there like 10 threads an hour on audiobooks lately?
Not complaining, just wondering.

And yes I know, maybe 10 an hour is an exaggeration.

There's one on youtube and it's pretty good, but Fins Wake is more of a study than a classical novel, so the audiobook should be used alongside the physical book.

The Grapes of Wrath audiobook was the shit to listen to, highly recommended. I'm listening to Absalom, Absalom! at the moment and it's absolutely amazing. I'm so glad I listened to it instead of reading it.

If i could hijack the conversation for a moment what sites do u use to get audio books i use Piratebay and theaudiobookbay
Also i really liked "A long way gone" by Ishmael Beah because he reads it himself

I can't do it OP, I just can't.

I lose interest very quickly and it doesn't really sink in.

I have Children of Hurin read by Christopher Lee though, which I will no doubt enjoy when I get around to it.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I use TPB or rutracker or soulseekQT (in order of increasing obscurity). But usually TPB is fine.

I am a slow reader anyway, so audiobooks work for me. I just imagine it's someone telling me a story and it works much better.
