I was reading about Baudrillard, then came upon this. I know little of psychoanalysis, thinking the brain more the domain of neuroscientists.
Is it a recommended read? Or are there any other works of the authors of particular merit?

>> No.3781880

It's good, but Thousand Plateaus (the second Capitalism and Schizophrenia book) is an easier read, and it'll make it easier to get acquainted with their writing style, which is rather peculiar.

What knowledge/background is necessary for the second book?

Not OP, but why do you say that? Someone told me all they got out of it was some interesting lyricism, but as I skimmed through it it seemed comprehensible.

I don't like this question, and if you read Thousand Plateaus, you will understand why.

For Deleuze: Difference & Repetition, Logic of Sense, and the books on Nietzsche, Bergson, and Spinoza.

Stay away from nonsense.

If you want to know why, read Sokal:

Enjoy.

That's not really an argument though. I'm not denying that there could be (and probably are) frauds among postmodernists, but to generalize based on a single incident that wasn't really meaningful would be unphilosophical to begin with.

>> No.3782606

Bump to spite that Sokal guy that posts in every postmodern philosophy thread.

Suck it, read D&G. Shit's great.

Not that guy ,but pretty much any scholar within any English department that actually thinks for himself would see that most of these postmodern "philosophers" are all pretty much making it up as they go. Look at Derrida,

That's not the point. The tits on the cover might be related to the critique of culture done in the book.

I'm not generalizing based on a single incident. Read the books. I even linked to free versions of them. The kind of dishonest pseudointellectuality that gave rise to Sokal affair is not the exception, it is the rule.

The 20th century is the Deleuzian century. Fact.
