Sup /lit/

I really enjoy Anthony Fantano and his Needledrop review show.

Is there an equivalent for literature? A guy making informative and entertaining videos about new literature?

Seems like there's a gap in the market

I watched some book reviews yesterday by some guy who was obviously trying to rip off anthony's style. they sucked though

I've seen the Tao Lin one and the hose doesn't seem very entertainting.

Also aren't these all interviews?

No one's doing anything book-related on Youtube that's on par with what Fantano's doing. I don't think the viewership at large has any interest in it and the "booktubers" out there are almost entirely uninformed about literary history and interested in YA or kid's lit. It also stands to reason that books would best be discussed via text but that may not be a conversation worth having on 4chan although I'm sure people will have an interest in discussing it.

Suggested websites:
Conversational Reading
Waggish
The Quarterly Conversation
Big Other

Someone would probably like HTML Giant but I'm never interested in what they post.

There's always Michael Silverblatt though. His interviews are boss.

>>3765547
Yeah he's great but again they're all interviews and they're long as hell and he's pretty boring after a while the way he talks

>> No.3765609

>>3765599
Welp I strongly disagree but then again I've usually read the authors being interviewed. If you're not bored that Cornell University talk Silverblatt gave a few years back kicks ass. Then again most of the people on here will probably think it's crap.

Look I don't hate the guy and he knows his shit, but I'd rather see someone like Fantano talking about a certain book, where it fits in terms of genre or groupings of authors/ style and so on, and what might have influenced it, what references it makes to real life events, some hidden themes that appear on close reading, maybe a brief bio of hte author

so you want shallow analysis and pop culture references

what are you, 15?

>> No.3765637

>>3765629
Look buddy I'm getting real pissed off so you better back away.

All I said was tht Michael Silverblatt, while obviously knowing his stuff and having the capacity to uncover themes and references in a text that most readers cannot, lacks the capacity to present his analysis in an entertaining way without the author being present.

And if you say one more goddamn thing about me being young or anything like that then I swear to god you will not enjoy your day tomorrow
