How do people feel about them? Both those written for a Western audience, and those written for a domestic Arab audience?

>> No.3729731

Have you read any of them?
e.g. The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam

or are you looking for reading suggestions?

hard to answer such an open-ended question. I mean, yes, there are many books worth reading in (classical) middle eastern literature, on all subjects and genres....

Arabs don't have any literature worth reading. They're all inbred coons who should be gassed.

The Queeran, for example, is by far the most laughably delusional Holy Book ever written.

Pick only one. Arabs stopped writing literature in the seventh century BC.

I enjoy post-colonial lit so I've read a few of contemporary Arabic literature. I'm too lazy to differentiate between which audience it's intended for.

Currently, I'm reading Tahafut al–Falasifah (The Incoherence Of Philosophers) by Al-Ghazali, and liking it so far.

Naguib Mahfouz's Cario trilogy is the highlight of modern Arab literature.

>> No.3730021

I dislike it when authors italicise Arabic words in fiction about Arabia targeted at western audiences. It feels like they're dumping it down, and using cheap tricks to keep the book oriental.
