That photograph, in tandem with the text beside it, suffered me to laughter.

Sanderson is a fanboy hack. I read the first mistborn book because he did a reasonable job rounding off the wheel of time series. If only Robert Jordan could write 85% of all his stories.

PKD was a determined hack, but a hack nonetheless. His niche was being wacky and surreal, just like Sanderson's niche is making stupid magic systems which are more "fake science" than actual mysticism.

protip: you don't read PKD for atmosphere, style, clarity or structure. it's the ideas.

So that we're on the same page, what exactly are you referring to when you say that PKD's works are wacky and surreal?

>> No.3712642

>>3712637
He doesn't use traditional, cut and dry imagery like most sci-fi authors, like Assimov and Clarke. I think of that as surreal.
Or I'm just an idiot.

are you guys talking about philip k dick? like that pkd? how does he even factor into this thread?

furthermore, you don't read pkd for the atmosphere? what the fuck? i guess you don't have to, but the tense nervous atmosphere is precisely one of my reasons for enjoying his work. making definite claims about books, authors, or anything really is usually a bunch of hooey

>OH YOU LIKE THAT? OMIGOD ITS SO BAD
