Hey /lit/. I'm a freshman in high school, and I just wanted to know what you would recommend for me.

>> No.3712481

Plato
Aristotle
Xenophon
Epicurus
Lucretius
Cicero
Sextus Empiricus
Plotinus

To name a few

GETTIN' BANNED, BITCH

>> No.3712504

lord of the flies, catcher in the rye, twelfth night, diary of Anne frank

Read the accessible, simple style 20th century classics.

Catcher in the Rye
To Kill a Mocking Bird
The Great Gatsby
1984
Brave New World
A Farewell to Arms
Slaughterhouse Five
A Separate Peace
Lord of the Flies
Of Mice and Men

Many or most of these will be assigned reading but it sucks to be told what to read and when. Obviously if you encounter one you particularly like you can read the other works the author wrote too.

I would not recommend jumping into the greeks when you're 14 years old unless you have patience and attention well beyond your years.

i also seriously recommend making sure you avoid getting crushes on girls and keeping your emotions in check and stuff being a teenager is horrible

I couldn't disagree more man. Having crushes and constantly stirring up drama was so much fun.

A lot of people will tell you to read only classics here which is fine if you can do that. But I think that would turn off a young reader. To read any books at all will put you far ahead of the curve. Just read things that are interesting and challenging to you.
