Hey /lit/ is this a correct way to use burlesqued?

"The kid burlesqued the smaller kid about his weight."

pic unrelated

>> No.3711850

Why are you using "burlesqued" in the first place?

>> No.3711851

god, no. why would you ever think it was? where would you ever have seen it used hat way?

Nah, I'm just burlesquing you. That's exactly how it should be used.

doing some writing on my free time and i'm not sure if this is the right word to use for mockery.

>> No.3711872

'Burlesque' means a specific type of mockery. Its an exaggerated charicature.

And you don't burlesque the thing which has the characteristic that you are exaggerating, you burlesque the characteristic itself.

"The kid mocked the smaller kid by burlesquing his weight."

Its still a vague description, though. Through what actions does the one kid burlesque the other kid's weight?

Why can't you just use "mocked" then?

>> No.3711887

The tall boy mocked the smaller, fatter boy mercilessly, burlesqueing his every habit, movement and behavior into an exageratted grotesque.

>> No.3711917

I really dislike that word used as a verb.

>> No.3711949
