My university just erased its lit department. That dept was the center of my surplus enjoyment, my jouissance. I'm convinced there was nothing higher. We were the high-water-mark of civilisation. Future generations will never know.

Not so long ago I had a moment where I was certain that if I had the chance, I would gladly sacrifice my own life if that would buy the death of every other human being, as well.
