What is our purpose in life, anon?

If we are not going to create great art, what is it we are set out to do?

Tell me, please.

>> No.3697678

The meaning of life is whatever you make of it. If you want to dedicate your life to being a great artist, do so. As long as you can die knowing you fulfilled whatever purpose you made for yourself.

>> No.3697697

Anon. Dear, dear Anon. You have adopted a whole range of semantic frameworks, which you both consciously and subconsciously superimpose on top of reality to grasp at abstracted forms and concepts. Hidden within this framework is the word 'meaning'; complete with definition. You have taken this word and definition and attempted to force it over reality (where it really doesn't belong), and are getting frustrated when you find it doesn't fit. Stop doing that, Anon, realise why you can't you do that, and your burden will lighten. It is a mistake akin to asking 'what colour is sound?'

But then that would be a purpose, so I don't think that makes sense what you said thar.

I think not having a purpose equates to not having an imaginary standard that you compare your life to constantly and thus create worry.

We are set out to do nothing. There is no engrained purpose. But there is a prerogative we should hold to:
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

I do all that.

So I must be okay.

I don't spend my time planning to fuck up other people's lives, existences. I have no guilt.

I am humble and don't place myself above others.

Creating the art of living maybe? I don't know man, purpose is such a weird word. For example, I don't know what my actual purpose are, but I do know what do with most of my time, which is: Wishing I could hate other people out of existence and planning on how to murder my ex without being caught.

When I at some point cease to exist, I guess that this was my purpose, but if only I knew what I did while being here, then was it truly a purpose? Others may have seen me differently, thus defining my purpose differently: as Son, as murderer, as a selfish prick who never smiled and never went out of his basement - was this then my purpose?

Just enjoy my time. I would like to create some great art but I don't know if that's gonna happen. I oringally wanted to make vidya but lost interest in the medium. Then I wanted to write because I figured that would be the perfect medium for a loner like myself. When I realized I couldn't write like Nabokov I gave up. I guess I will live until I gain the courage to kill myself

Maybe, as time progresses, the older and wiser you will have found joy in the journey itself. Even if you were unsuccessful on a monetary or popular scale. It's best to get into these things as sincerely as possible, otherwise you'll have other variables institutionalizing you towards something that an artist is not.
