So /lit/ how would a person get into writing something that could be adapted for tv or film?
I'm not asking /tv/ because they don't know shit about writing, plus there are notable recent literary examples like Game of Thrones.

I'm not saying I'm trying to turn any of my ramblings into a hit series, but it remains an interesting prospect nonetheless.

What do you guys think? Heavy on the characterization, obviously. How do you feel about subplots in tv and books that take a long time, maybe even several installations to really come to fruition?

ITT interesting outlets for aspiring writers general

Soap operas and "pro wrestling". You're welcome.
Easy simple format that, although having limited story telling tools, has a lot of place for writing innovation and lacks a necessity to invest shitloads of money into it.

i guess. there are the occasional "pitch your ad idea" contests too, although those are few and far between and not likely to pan out anyway
