One might argue that the Germans have, in many respects, only gone through the motions of showing collective remorse for twelve years of mind-bogglingly relentless and pervasive evil - but let's show some understanding and gratitude at least for the MOTIONS, for Christ's sake.

All infantile "edginess" aside, if the Germans started shouting, with impunity, Nazi slogans on public TV only sixty years after the end of that regime, I think a very good moral case could be made for standing by while Israel nuked them off the face of the earth.

I'm indifferent to it. It is true though that the german guilt is very prevalent among many people. The younger generation makes jokes about it, but if you try to step in and acknowledge the Third Reich from the other perspective you will get cornered into the fascist area mostly. Another TV show incident was the one of Eva Herrmann I think who got thrown out of a discussion round because she said that we are still driving on the Autobahn the Nazis have built. Equally as bad as censoring Entartete Kunst etc.
