Post apocalyptic literature.
I'll start with the best. Nothing can rival it.

Hi dad! Still dreaming of a sub sub sub genre for your crappy pulp?

The Age of Wonder by Richard Holmes. After the enlightenment has devastated Europe, men cavort with island heathens, huff gas, violate the heavens in demonic contraptions, and in utter hubris try and steal their very secrets. Certainly not for the faint of heart.

Riddley Walker is okay. What he did with the language was really clever but the actual plot and story was pretty ordinary you know? He dazzled everyone with the words but forgot to add in a good story.

I don't agree with you about the plot, but I do agree about the language. It reminded me of A Clockwork Orange.

BNW isn't post apoc, BNW is dystopian(or -to the very most pleb- utopian.)

Technically, there is a sort-of apocalyptic event in the back-story, but the real focus is the dystopia.
