How come I can play a game for 10 hours but I can only read for like an hour before needing a break?

People enjoy what they're interested in. Had you been born 300 years in the past, before the invention of TV and Radio, you'd probably read as much you play video games.

Because playing video games is not a very intellectually stimulating activity. It requires no breaks because there is nothing to take a break from. You shut down and enter easy mode.

Books, on the other hand, are intellectually stimulating. Taking breaks is always necessary. I always like taking numerous short walks or quick visits to the internet throughout my reading days.

Reading difficult works is taxing.

Working through 10 hours of subtext and dense prose is hard work. Of course mindless entertainment is going to seem easier over long stretches. How is this even a point of contention for you?
