Oi, /lit/! /b/yard here, we need you to settle an argument. Who's better; Socrates, Aristotle or Plato?

>> No.3652187 [DELETED]

>> No.3652184

I go in for Aristophanes, personally.

Not pictured: the best of the three.

>> No.3652337

Plato

>> No.3652346

None, they're all degenerates. Read presocratics, worship the Sein.

>> No.3652361

/lit/ only likes the Sophists.

Parmenides is better than all other Greek philosophers.
However, if I needed to choose between the three, probably Aristotle.

>> No.3652482

Plato by far.

Plato

He existed, it's just that he and Plato were probably almost identical in belief.

Socrates

Socrates and Plato are the same person for all intents and purposes.
Plato's better imho

>>3652192
hesiod doesn't figure into philosopher-rankings at all because he's a Poet. Works and days and the Theogony definitely blow the "Phaedrus" and "Metapoetics" out of the water in terms of enjoyment you get from reading them.

Second thought, Zhuangzi beats them all. Different continent, though.

socrates makes far less ridiculous claims supported by useless logic than Plato - he was just a wiseman who question everything - he wasn't that into philosophies, just philosophical systems, philosophy for its own sake.

>> No.3652620

>>3652612

>implying you know anymore about him than anyone else, just by reading the sources that everybody else relies upon: Plato, Xenophon, and Aristophanes for the most part.

>> No.3652634

Aristotle obviously. His impact has been the greatest.

>> No.3652642

Socrates. He actually uses reason to critically analyze beliefs, not build them.

that may or may not be true... Socrates says some outright ludicrous shit about the nature of the soul in the Phaedrus. as far as "rankings" go though, wouldn't you say that the two are virtually indistinguishable, considering that we find a lot of plato's own thoughts mixed into records where socrates supposedly speaks?
