Just finished.

Would it have hurt the novel that much to cut out all the shit about Luzhin and Katerina Ivanovna? It would have saved a good 150-200 pages without really taking anything away.

Still, not bad. 7/10

I generally find I like the first quarter of Dostoevsky books the most, my interest somewhat wanes after, and only sporadically picks up as the narrative continues to the end but never reaching the peaks of interest that were aroused near the beginning.

I've decided I'm inherently a Tolstoy man as opposed to a Dostoyevsky one. I think I respond to the more idealistic and introspective style of Leo, and indeed I find that the potential of Dostoyevsky rarely is realised
