Nah you don't need to read them in order. There are some really meh ones in there imo, so don't give up too soon because some of them are REALLY great. You should probably not read The Dead before reading a few others, because it's so good it'll probably ruin the rest of the book for you, that's why in all the editions I've seen it's the last story :p

Cortizar is one of the greatest writers of the 20th century and i wish more people would talk abut him on here.

However, even though overall i suppose his shortstories are best, Hopscotch/Rayuela is a goddamn masterpiece of the highest calibier. It's right up there with Gravity's Rainbow, Ulysses, Mason & Dixon, Beckett's trilogy, Catch 22, and Infinite Jest as the great novels of the 20th century.


Damnit now I'm gonna read hopscotch again instead of working on my thesis.
