hey /lit/, I coming from /a/.

I am not sure if you ever heard of the novel "Shinsekai Yori" (From the new world) but it got an anime adaption. The last episode aired one week ago. A short trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3FF8NDXNTg

Well, do you guys know any publisher who are interested in Sci-fi books like this?
Vertical is interested but they are scared by the lengths of the book.

Would you be possibly also interested in this book?

Watched the first 4 episodes - was not impressed.

The pacing and general direction felt inisipid and my interest though initially quite high from reading the summary became lukewarm to non-existent overtime as I continued to watch it.

The art style wasn't impressive and the only redeeming thing I could think of regarding the show from what I watched was that it had a nice ending song.

Could you summarise the plot and what in your eyes made it so great as a sci-fi?

Maybe the book is better but from what I have researched it's not translated(?). Some things suffer when being adapted between mediums so maybe that was the problem?

While the strong episodes are episode 16-25, I really liked the first episodes as well.

The series adaptes the novel throughout 1:1 with a few changes.

Are you asking if we'd be interested in a translation of the source material to the anime?

Maybe, I couldn't really get past the first episode of the anime.

Aren't the source materials for anime usually pulp fiction type books? or is this a full novel?

Looks like /lit/ coming up in the world.

You're the only one who has asked a vaguely relevant question so don't worry OP, sorry I have nothing constructive to add.

Normally only Light novels would get anime adaptions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_novel
Most of LN adaptions are shit because almost all LNs don't have a good story or are just fanservice series. LNs are aimed to Otakus/anime nerds or highschool students

SSY is one of the "real" / "full" novels

I think with my limited exposure to /a/ that SSY is incredibly overrated by its fanbase. I'm fine with people liking it if it's to their tastes but the fact they can't seem to understand that equally for a lot of people it was plainly dull with little redemption is saying something.

I enjoyed the anime but I wouldn't read the book, especially if it's as long as you say. Even though I enjoy anime, I'll be the first to admit that the plot lines are generally too weak/generic for novel form.
