should /lit/ be abolished in favor of /phil/

>> No.3594060

>Getting rid of literature discussion to have an existential crisis board.

Get out.

>> No.3594061

No. The demand for literature and books on 4chan is far greater than the demand for philosophy. That being said, a philosophy board would be nice.

>> No.3594065

As someone who is only starting to get into philosophy, no. I came here loving fiction. Now I'm starting to become a better thinker thanks to the stuff I've been introduced to on /lit/. I want the two communities to stay intertwined.

>> No.3594095

Shit makes no sense.

>> No.3594100

Yes. all this board does is talk about Michel Fuckalt

>> No.3594117

No, but a philosophy board would be nice. I'd also like if Moot made a board for creative writing. Though, it might not be such a good idea once cretins from other boards find it and fill it with their fanfictions.

Correctomundo. Let's keep it purely /lit/, these creative writing threads. Though a cynic will no doubt suggest otherwise I'm pretty impressed with /lit/'s collective writing skills.

Those tags work in the archive.

Indeed, that was a shameful display. Let me try again.

It's not like this board reads books anyway. Posters prefer to make threads about their existential dread or the first "witty" thing to pop into the mind.

A philosophy board all of that precious content away and /lit/ would die. It's like taking the NEET threads and ironic shitposting out of /jp/.

>> No.3594159

>>3594155
that's better; but wtf were you thinking when you wrote your first post?

I would like to see a /phil/ board, so that there'd be less emo shitposting on /lit/. Also, is /q/ happening?

>> No.3594167

>>3594163
Incorrect. Many, many people on /lit/ read Plato, Hume, Kant, Hegel, Derrida, Aristotle and I've even seen people debating the offshoot schools of Socrates such as the Cyrenaics. And then you have the guys who are into modern dudes like Harris and Zizek. /lit/ knows its stuff on philosophy. I find this board the most amicable one out there so there really isn't a need to needle it.

>> No.3594176

>>3594159

Nothing. I have a habit about not typing out everything I intend to, and not proofreading before posting.

*A philosophy board [would take] all of that precious content away

And it would be terrible for people who want to discuss philosophy on /phil/, as it would attract less serious posters.

>> No.3594183

>>3594176
Ah, finally. A grammatically competent post. And you are right on your last point. As with any new board, there would be an influx of shitposters interested in the novelty of a new board. There wouldn't be the traffic or the userbase to justify creating a philosophy board outside of lit.

Ehh.. lit is such a slow board that people throwing up the odd thread on Hume, Kant or something in a passage of Plato really isn't bothersome. Hell the timespread for the first page is like 5 hours, more threads are fine. We don't need to confine all philosophy to one thread because there isn't a need for more threads to have space on the front page.

>> No.3594201

I propose /litphi/ - Literature & Philosophy

>> No.3594203

>>3594196

it's not about confining all of it to one place

it's about having a central thread where you can discuss general philosophy and get into arguments and discussions with people without needing to chance upon a thread

you can still create threads for your discussions, it's not like you're confined to the /phil/ thread

O I meant to say thought process, lel. Philosophy differs from just being literature in that phi. is fundamentally a set of thoughts which lead to some conclusion. How you express these thoughts can be done through multiple modes (charts/visual representation, art, speech, written form, etc.).

Man this board is getting worse and by the day now. You guys wallow so much in your own smugness that no longer can stand that philosophy being argued outside the confines of lit. Simply because they are plebs... And don't have the knowledge. Philosophy 101,ideas needs to be constantly challenged. This board is so full of self confidence and sameness to the point that it's actually bad for the culture . Congratulations you have officially become /mu/ now.

You don't belong to a certain culture. This board isn't more intellectual. People in here don't think like you. On this board we post about literature. God when this place started it was filled with fantasy and sci - fi, now those threads are deliberately scorned upon. Then you have existential crisis threads, philosophical circle - jerks, I'm a liberal feel good threads, and as of late alt-lit praises. However any attempt at actual discussion be it Tar, writing critique, trying to understand a book (lol author dead, more precise questions (lol homework), those are instantly shot down.

You should all be fucking ashamed of yourselves

Philosophy is a topic of increasing interest on 4chan and there is no definite board on which to post it. So, as a result, people looking to discuss philosophy who are from any board, come to /lit/ because it is the closest to /phil/. As the quantity of phil. posts grows, new members take it as a place acceptable to discuss that topic and perpetuate the system.

Yes, you can have philosophy discussions as long as it's related to literature. We just need to weed out the existential crisis, objective morality, continental vs analytic, STEM so dumb shit that has dwarfed literature discussion.
