What's the most 'unfilmable' book you've ever read, /lit/?

>> No.3524061

The Waves

Mostly cus a film of it would be fucking boring.

Both Finnegans Wake and Ulysses have film adaptations anyway

Haven't finished it yet but I would say Infinite Jest. Hardly anything that makes this book interesting can be implemented in a film.

Wow, I hope Finnegans Wake is some avant-garde 2deep4u stuff, or I'll be disappointed.

Flatland.

That would be seriously shit, even as a Disney Pixar animation.

You're not supposed to read that.
Holy shit that must have been boring.

The answer is any educational book.

Johnny Got His Gun

It's about a soldier who loses all his limbs, his mouth, his nose, his eyes, and goes deaf. It's told entirely through his thoughts and memories.

Funny thing is, there's already a movie for it.

I think there was a full theater production of it at some time. Here's an article about it: http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/culturebox/2012/06/infinite_jest_on_stage_berlin_theater_adaptation_of_david_foster_wallace_s_novel_.html

There's also this music video that depicts Eschaton: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJpfK7l404I

>> No.3524864

Yeah, I know but this thing lasted 24 hours and I doubt that it was able to convey the messages nearly as well as the book. To me it looks more like an artistic experiment.
Would have been nice to see however, especially given that I'm German.

Jesus christ, Satan, I was thinking the other day about how hard it would be for Hundred Years to be turned into a film, and then I see this thread, and then I see your post before I can post about it myself. Fucking magics.
